Dr. Gabila Nubong is a Associate Editor and Experienced Scholar in Political Economy. Currently a Senior Lecturer at the School of Economics, North-West University, South Africa, Dr. Nubong combines academic rigour with extensive experience in research and policy analysis. His diverse research portfolio spans economic development, regional economic integration, and the capacity dimensions of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a particular focus on comparative processes within the African Union and European Union.

Dr. Nubong has held various prestigious positions that reflect his expertise and multidisciplinary approach to political economy. He served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute for Strategic and Political Affairs (ISPA) at the University of Pretoria and as a researcher at the Center for Governance Innovation, where he contributed to critical analyses of governance and economic transformation. His international experience includes roles as a Socio-Economist with the European Union Delegation to South Africa and as a Project Officer with the European Center for Development Policy Management (ECDPM) in Maastricht, the Netherlands.

In addition to his academic and policy work, Dr. Nubong brings valuable editorial leadership to the Journal of African Political Economy and Development (JAPED), where he serves as Associate Editor. In this capacity, he oversees the journal’s contributions to scholarship on Africa’s political and economic complexities. His editorial insights ensure that JAPED maintains a high standard of interdisciplinary research, addressing pressing issues such as economic transformation, governance, and development trajectories across the continent.

Dr. Nubong's extensive experience, both in academia and applied research, positions him as a key figure in advancing scholarship on Africa’s development challenges and opportunities. His leadership at JAPED reinforces its role as a critical platform for thought-provoking analyses on African political economy.
